Epic Weapon 8: The Resistance Bullseye

  • Game of Origin - Resistance Fall of Man
  • Attack Rating - Varies Tag increases and in the recent incarnation improves further
  • Selling Price - N/A
  • Chimeran Weapon of choice tags lead bullets to target
This weapon is a take on a classic Contra approach of a Homing Weapon. The primary attack is less accurate but the tagging feature leads to a powerful attack. In the original the gun upgraded to a Blue version which increased impact force. The current incarnation is upgradable to have explosive rounds and a tag which shatters to allow multiple enemies to be auto targeted by rounds. Many may call this a weapon of cheating as you can tag your target and hide behind a wall and still shoot the target as the bullets will go directly to target. In the war against the chimera even in the multiplayer deathmatches this weapon is invaluable.

Why it's Epic: The concept is simple yet powerful. The game is a signature to the resistance series.

Epic Weapon 7: The Master Sword

  • Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda

  • Attack Rating: power almost mirrors lifeforce

  • Selling Price: in game priceless

  • Magical sword that seems to always return to save Hyrule

  •      This is one of videogames oldest weapons from the 8 bit days. It's lore alone earns it's epic reasonong. Since "Link" seems to always be reborn or awaken and find it to save the day. It's kind of ironic that the weapon that defeats Gannon every single time seems to be so easy for a boy to find. Personally I'd have hid the weapon that could kill me somewhere no one would look for it. IN MY ARMORY.
Why it's epic: Everyone has played a Zelda game at least once the sword is not only iconic it's been made out in steel for collectors.

Epic Weapon 6: The Assassin's Creed Wrist Blade

    • Game of Origin: Assassin's Creed
    • Attack Rating: Almost instantaneous Death
    • Selling Price: Replica or Homemade?
    • The assassin's removed a finger to make this blade fully acessable
Unique yes, and one of the most sought after replica's and even thousands of "how to" sites have looked into making this blade. Sadly the spring loaded blade is highly illegal for street carry. But the concept if beautiful. It's use primarily was for a final fatal blow. I've seen several approaches to weapons like this including a derringer and a spearhead.

Why it's epic: It's a mix of retro assassin per a videogame and unique styling as stated I've found thousands of how to's for this weapon

    Epic Weapon 5: BFG 9000

    • Game of Origin: Doom
    • Attack Rating: Almost Ungodly
    • Selling Price: Military purchase only
    • Originally set to vaporize anything in view
A classic which brought out the blood lust in all players when picked up. Aliens from hell appearing at your military base on a moon of mars? NO PROBLEM!!! This baby kills almost anything in one shot. There is still a debate on the "BFG" meaning most people it's Big F***ing Gun. I'm told a newer more pc acronym was devised. Several game developres used this idea to design their weaponry as once you hit this ability of a weapon was too far to be fair.

    Why it's Epic: DUH!

Epic Weapon 4: The appature science portal device

    • Game of Origin: Portal / The Orange Box
    • Attack Rating: None directly
    • Selling Price: See local Appature dealer
    • Was allowed into Half Life with a hack

Now one may say this really isn't a weapon it was a tool to transport around a testing facility. This was though your only defensive weapon besides your wits. Be it a way to drop blocks on bots, or bots into a watery abyss or your way to climb up from a grave you were thrown into by a self aware Robot with a god complex. This tool is your weapon and your way to survival as well as the future

Why it's epic: Portal brought forth a new first person perspective of not just shoot to kill. Between the puzzles and quick thinking the portal device is your god........ps.... the cake is a lie

    Epic Weapon 3: Vampire Killer

    Weapon Stats:
    • Game of Origin: Castlevania
    • Attack Rating: Varied
    • Selling Price: Priceless
    • Handed through the generations to kill vampires
This is one of those that is more classic and confusing. Like why would a guy take a whip as his primary weapon to face the minions of darkness. Is he sadistic or is there more to this? Players questioned the approach, but for being such a simple weapon the Vampire Killer whip has progressed in the Mythologies of Castlevania. Said to be only truly used to it's potential by one of the Belmont bloodline and strong enough to face the darkest of beings this whip has done just about everything. It's been used like a grappling hook, gained powers of fire, water and electric, smashed rocks and demons. It's even been translated in the Kojima Rebirth of Castlevania but reborn itself as the Combat Cross.
This rebirth made a bit more sense as even though it stayed mistical it made more sense as it folded into itself for compact carry.

Why it's Epic: As I stated what sadistic being takes a whip to fight monsters? It's effectiveness and legacy alone give it a true honor and thus here in the VGW Arsenal I give it the same honor.

Epic Weapon 2: Blades of Chaos

    Weapon Stats:
    • Game of Origin: God of War
    • Attack Rating: Variable as weapon could be upgraded
    • Selling price: Priceless
    • Bound to Kratos by Aries the two blades swung on chains
This weapon is not only Epic it's really well known. At first play of God of War once you see what these blades can do you want more bloodshed. They changed and became blades of another name as the series progressed as of God of War 3 they were the Blades of Redemption. This unique weapon is transversal and has also made appearances in other games such as Little Big Planet (w/Kratos Costume) and Heavenly Sword (in the enemies arsenal during Kai's mission where she finds her mothers corpse). The God of War series alone has a variety of epic weaponry but these were our first taste.

Why it's Epic: Do I really have to explain.... how bout I just say take a look at this

Epic Weapon 1: The Demon Poop Hammer

    Stats:
    • Game of Origin: Deathspank
    • Attack Rating: 0 Damage
    • Selling price: priceless
    • garunteed to knock the poop out of any demon
This was a side quest weapon to help a farmer out in Deathspank. The idea was to collect Demon Poop which the farmer used as fertilizer. This weapon alone seemed to be a selling point to get people to play. It's humor was that it didn't help you in a fight but did up your combo and allow you to collect demon poop in battle. Since the game allowed you to sell items that you didn't need or could use as the game progressed most items in your inventory went but the game did not allow you to sell this weapon. It's value was priceless, depending on how you look at it this is either a compliment or an insult to the player. No one I've come across though wanted to see it instead they tried to find a use for this weapon in their raids on leprechauns and other creatures.

Why it's Epic: The low brow approach of this weapon was creative. As I said it was like a selling point to get people to download this game onto their console. I myself was surprised that it was not requested to return in "Thongs of Virtue" Thus this dirty little hammer has made a name for itself and earns it's humorous place in the Arsenal.

The Arsenal: An expansion to Videogame Chaos

I've decided to expand a bit and hopefully this will lead to a website as well. (as soon as I can figure out some of the newer builders since no one seems to allow simple html without a fee). I was thinking on games I've played lately and wanted to give a listing of Epic Weapons through out gaming that really stick with the player. I plan to start as simple as the classic BFG9000 all the way to the humorous weapons that really don't do any damage, but are a riot to take into battle.
